Every row is the same soft grade, which is the point of the brush: it lays the hair surface flat and polishes it without scraping skin, so it works on short cuts, fresh fades and newly lined edges where a firmer brush is uncomfortable. In a 360 wave routine this is the finishing tool, used after a medium or hard brush has pulled the pattern, closing the ridges and smoothing the surface before a durag goes on.
